Description
The latest energy crisis and market failures in the energy sector have brought the topic to the forefront throughout Finland. The issues concern everyone in some way, and different opinions and solutions are being thrown around in masses. Within this project, we will take a closer look at one approach: smaller scale energy storages, where Finland excels research-wise. While still virtually non-existent, if widely adopted, such storages might have a vast impact on resilience, self-sufficiency, and infrastructure simplicity. It would also pave the way for a larger scale of microscale production of renewable energy.
How should energy storages be embedded into small communities, such as residential areas, business parks, or work communities? What type of solutions are already available across the globe, and how might they be applied in Finland? What are the use cases and value creators for the small communities, and how should it be communicated efficiently?
This project paints a picture of a future where small-scale energy storages are a viable option to any community or area. Global, already existing benchmarks will be supercharged and productized for further value generation. A concept for to-be-built areas utilizing energy storing to its full potential, its use cases and branding is expected as the end result. Further expertise is available throughout the project from Vaasan Sähkö professionals.
