Human Beings in the Modern World
In Blue Zones, healthy living is rarely a solo effort. People have a “right tribe” — a small social circle that makes good habits feel normal and enjoyable. In many modern cities, citizens can be surrounded by people and still feel isolated. Without supportive social routines, healthy intentions turn into short-lived self-improvement attempts.
In this project, we explore how to help citizens live more like Blue Zones by forming small, welcoming communities that sustain everyday wellbeing. How might we make it easy to join a low-pressure group around simple rituals like walking, shared meals, hobbies, or local volunteering? What makes a community feel safe, inclusive, and durable?
The team will interview and test with citizens and prototype models for “micro-tribes”: matching ideas, onboarding flows, facilitation scripts, and recurring rituals that keep groups alive. The team may build a simple digital layer (optional) — but the focus is on real-life belonging that changes routines over time.
If you are interested in community design, social innovation, service design, inclusion, or building pilots with citizens, this project is for you!
