Description
Cities around the world are struggling with traffic congestion, air pollution, and inefficiencies in urban transport. Congestion pricing has been introduced in some regions, but public acceptance and effectiveness remain limited. Citizens often view tolls as punishment rather than part of a shared solution.
At the same time, new technologies—AI, digital twins, gamified engagement tools, and super apps—are transforming how we interact with mobility. There is a unique opportunity to rethink congestion management in a way that is fair, transparent, and citizen-driven.
What if congestion pricing was more than a fee? What if mobility systems actively rewarded good choices—such as using public transport, cycling, or carpooling—instead of only charging for driving?
This project invites talents to explore use cases and user perspectives that could reshape how cities and citizens engage with mobility. What kinds of experiences, incentives, and feedback would build trust and encourage sustainable travel behaviors?
Possible directions to explore include:
- Integration of different mobility modes (public transport, ride-sharing, micromobility) into seamless experiences
- Real-time citizen feedback and engagement models that give people a voice in traffic solutions
- AI-driven pricing and predictive systems that adapt fairly and transparently to changing conditions
- Gamification and reward systems that turn sustainable travel into a positive choice rather than a penalty
The goal is not to design “just another app,” but to reimagine how digital platforms, social dynamics, and smart technologies can shift behavior, build trust, and improve urban mobility for everyone.
