Inclusive Skin Tone Standards Online

Description
In our increasingly digital and visually-driven world, accurate and equitable representation of diverse skin tones is still unattained. From smartphone cameras and video conferencing platforms to medical imaging and AI-powered identity verification systems, digital technologies often fall short in rendering the full spectrum of human complexions fairly. This can lead to issues ranging from subtle misrepresentation to significant barriers in accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities. We are interested to conduct a comprehensive study on achieving optimal and inclusive skin tone representation across various digital environments. In this project, we investigate the technical, perceptual, and ethical dimensions of this problem, aiming to identify current limitations, understand user experiences globally, and demonstrate innovative solutions that ensure all individuals are accurately and respectfully portrayed by technology.
