Cancer mortality can be reduced if cases are detected and treated early.
Breast self-examination (BSE) is a routine examination that should be carried out at the same time each
month to physically check for any lumps or other changes. It entails two important components, i.e.
looking and feeling. With this method, women should learn what is normal for them, so that they can
recognize any changes immediately. Breast Self-Examination was initially proposed as an intuitive,
inexpensive, non-invasive, and universally accessible means of promptly identifying early-stage breast
neoplasms.
Challenge:
Monthly breast self-examination (BSE) is an important part of health care for all women in every stage of
life. This is one physical examination you can do yourself, in the privacy of your own home. HOW to
sensitize the population in general, women in particular, to the importance of systematic breast selfexamination and to the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, in order to achieve the desired
reduction of its negative impact about women and society.
