Description
Cities and regions around the world know a lot about their citizens. Data is collected about people, infrastructure, environment, budget, events, etc... But in most cases, this data is heavily under-utilized. Now think about a person moving to Glasgow from abroad. Location matters, but how do they know where they would like to live in Glasgow? In the city center? East End? Merchant City? By randomly googling for information, you will find only opinions. What if the online property services would utilize open data to show in real-time what is happening in the area you are interested in? Are there culture events, what is the crime rate, and how well does the public transportation work?
How might we offer new kind of value in property business by utilizing open data to visualize different facets of specific areas in Glasgow? What kind of data sources already exist and what data would be highly valuable? How could this affect and change the information shown about the properties online?
Join this project to dive deeper into Glasgow City open data. The aim is to demonstrate and visualize how open data can be used to support the decision to buy or rent a property in Glasgow. Let’s enable people moving to our city to find the right home for them in the right area!
