Olympics, World Cup of Football and Commonwealth Games are just few examples of global mega events which have been under a lot of scrutiny in the past 10 years. Un-ethical planning and construction, and shady preparations mixed with political goals unfit for sporting events are just some of the problems. The righteous and positive brands of these organizations are long gone and it is increasingly harder to even find willing candidates to host the events. Events like these would greatly benefit from totally new logic for the planning and organizing the events to regain the trust of the public and to produce more societal value for the host regions/countries. How should we redesign the mega events to be more ethical and socially sustainable? What kind of requirements there should be for the hosts? How to make sure the infrastructure built will benefit the host region also in the future? What kind of best practices can we find from the past? How should these events brand themselves before, during and after the actual event? How will the visitor experience and global visibility change for these events as a result of the changes? In this project you get to create the blueprints for next-generation global mega-events. The aim is to visualize and concretize the blueprints into visitor/spectator experience.
