Healing the Planet
Novel, Urban Farm-to-table Concepts
Description
Urban farming refers to the practice of cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around urban areas. The goal of urban farming is to make fresh, healthy food more accessible to people who live in urban areas, where access to fresh produce and other food items can be limited. It also can reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation, reduce the amount of land used for agriculture, and provide opportunities for people to connect with the natural environment and each other.
Urban farming seems like a winning concept, but its widespread adoption is still underlying. Why? What if urban agriculture became an important source of income for city dwellers? If looking for more futuristic approaches: What if all cities had a mandatory requirement for green roofs and urban agriculture? What if urban farming became a widespread trend, leading to the redevelopment of abandoned areas in cities, how might our future cities look like?
