Description
There are 3,152 municipalities in Hungary. Each one has their own decision-making bodies driven by politicians and/or municipal officials. This means there are thousands of public records from municipal coucil, board and municipal government meetings created every month. This creates a huge database of decision-making documents which is impossible for anyone to follow in detail.
People are often trying to keep up with local decisions and plans, but the volume and complexity make it overwhelming for anyone to follow closely. How might we create a tool that helps individuals quickly identify the most important municipal decisions and initiatives, enabling them to better understand what’s happening, spark meaningful discussions, and hold decision-makers accountable?
How might we utilise AI to scan through the vast amounts of documents for most influential or suspicious decisions? How should the tool visualise the information and feed anyone interested in civic life with potentially interesting topics?
We don’t want the AI to create stories, that’s journalists’ job, but to increase transparency and surface the stories that would otherwise remain buried in paperwork.
