Description
Being alone doesn’t mean being lonely. Sports are best enjoyed with friends and the right atmosphere, but it’s not always possible to gather in one place, whether it’s a living room or a stadium. In this project, we aim to redesign the live sports viewing experience by transforming your living room into a dynamic, immersive AR arena. We’ll explore how augmented reality glasses can bring live content, stats, avatars of friends, and interactive elements into your physical space to recreate the stadium energy at home. The assumption is that AR glasses will become mainstream, making them the central technological focus of this project.
How can we spatially anchor live gameplay visuals – such as floating replays, scoreboards, and player cards – within the viewer’s environment? What are the best ways to simulate the presence of friends in an immersive way? How might cheers, commentary, and team chants feel engaging without becoming overwhelming? And how could we bring fan rituals and shared activities from the arena into the home experience?
In this project, the goal is to create an AR storyboard or prototype for a sport of the team’s choice (e.g., football, esports, basketball). This could include companion app or service mockups, interaction flows between users and content, spatial UX concepts, and hardware integration with AR glasses – or any similar deliverables based on the team’s interests, skills, and ambition.
