Autonomous logistics and transport is on the way. The question is not if, but when. Considering fully autonomous vehicles, ships or planes, one of the biggest hurdles is trust between human beings and machines. Not understanding anything about how the systems work creates lots of anxiety and even prevents these technologies from being adopted. On the other hand, we cannot expect everyone to understand fully how the complex systems work and interact. What should be the balance? How might we share the right amount of information to the passengers regarding autonomous vehicles? How to make it transparent enough for people to be able to trust the systems, but not bombard them with useless information? How should the vehicle communicate to us?
