Disaster And Response Simulation In Metaverse
Description
As climate change progresses, extreme weather conditions are becoming more and more common. At the same time cities around the world are becoming more complex and crammed. Thus there is a growing need to predict and prepare for emergency situations in densely populated areas. Arranging evacuation drills or training for emergencies is essential, but we need more holistic tools to simulate these emergencies and the response by the professionals. In this project we want to explore the possibilities of utilizing metaverse environments to firstly create a city environment and secondly simulate simple emergency scenarios in said city.
There are easy tools to convert cities into virtual versions of them, for example in Unreal 5 game engine. How might we utilize the virtual environment to prepare for daily threats, such as car crashes or injuries, or major threats like fires or floods? How might we simulate future technologies, such as drone fleets, to aid in the emergency response?
This project is a concrete demo-building project where you get to freely play around in metaverse environments and build cool concepts to help us all in the future!
