Description
Transparency and trustworthiness are crucial for any autonomous system. However, if operators and others interacting with these systems do not feel they have complete control and understanding, building trust becomes challenging. As buildings and other infrastructure become increasingly autonomous, the need for innovative interfaces and modalities becomes essential. While autonomous mobility provides some guidance, it is not fully applicable to other contexts.
How should the operations of an autonomous system, such as in a power plant, be conveyed through various interfaces to create a perception of full transparency? What can we learn from existing examples, and what new and effective modes of constant communication are emerging? What might be the information delivery needs for the public in the context of autonomous infrastructure?
This project offers an exciting opportunity to design interactive solutions for a significant future use case. It requires research and understanding of the current state of autonomous systems, as well as an open-minded approach to envisioning new and effective methods. Can you design user-centric trust if constraints are removed from the equation?
