Human Beings in the Modern World

Next Gen Coders

Description
Software development has traditionally been an artisan profession. Coding has been mostly done by physically writing lines of code, but it has slowly evolved to include more modular tools and libraries, which have greatly increased efficiency. The dawn of AI, particularly the introduction of ChatGPT, has changed the industry forever. Now, almost anyone can create basic applications simply by describing them to generative AI. So, are coders becoming futile in the modern world? Definitely not! But, their role is likely to shift from basic coding to understanding complex value chains, systems thinking, and evolving customer needs across various industries. Coders will tackle some of the most significant questions in our society, such as the ethics of AI. How do we prepare young, future software developers for this new role? What topics should be emphasized in their education, and which could be minimized or left out completely? How might we ensure, for example, that sustainability and ethics are taken into account in their education? Considering these changes, what skills will be essential for software developers in the future? We want to explore the different important topics and build concepts to educate the next generation of coders to be ready for the future of software development!
