Let's Co-create Sports Centre for Kids

DESIGNED TOGETHER WITH Jamk University of Applied Sciences

The aim of the project is to create an operative model for a training room used by multiple junior sports clubs in Jyväskylä. The training room is intended for cross-sports training, and it opens up new possibilities for cooperation between the sports clubs. Reusing an existing building and changing its use is an ecological and value-based choice. The pilot project has shown that there is a need for a "quick and easy way" to support children's exercise and training, for example by providing safe and usable places for their sports activities.

Society & Culture

Background

The purpose of the center is to serve athletes in the area where there aren't enough places for multi-sport training throughout the year. The premise of this project is to provide more healthy training days so that it does not increase the costs to families, but provides more quality training in proper and safe conditions. Currently, mandatory sports-related training has to be done in various outdoor spaces (parking lots, walkways, and forest areas) or in narrow corners or corridors of existing sports facilities.

Project planning has begun in the spring of 202o with a pilot project.

Challenge

Demola student team collects and analyzes the needs of the sport clubs for creating an operational model of the training center. The team aims to find out how to optimize the signage of the facilities and the flow of information to the people who uses the facilities. The team also draws up a plan for implementing the services in a controlled and realistic manner and makes some demos for the operational system. The project involves also some financial planning, such as making a proposal for funding and budgeting the renovation.
