Technological Turmoil

DESIGNED TOGETHER WITH Demola Global

The difficult-to-predict development of future technologies provides humankind scenarios varying from utopic, machine-assisted wonderland to dystopic apoacalypse lead by robot overlords. We want to form teams to investigate future in its best-known sense. Are you able to envision the advancements of technology in its good, bad and ugly forms?

Emerging Technologies

Background

Modern, developed civilizations are run by technological innovations. Various fields are taken over by competitors harnessing modern technology efficiently, rendering many former approaches obsolete. The technological development has only gained more speed in the recent past and COVID-19 has made many of us increasingly dependent of modern technology, forcing also non-tech savvy individuals to find means of getting along with digital technologies. As the linear futures of humanity have been exchanged for the big uncertainty, what might it be bringing upon us when looking through the technological lens?

Challenge

Some of the most interesting modern-technology related challenges we are going to address within our One for Humanity campaign:

Blurring the Lines of Reality

Extended realities are becoming mainstream after struggling under the radar for decades and the value for virtual hugging grows exponentially with forced social distancing. How does the future look like when the line between real and artificial is blurred to the extreme?

Personal Service

Home assistants turn on the lights and close the blinds for you and a car takes you around autonomously so that you can be more efficient! What is the reality though? Will services automated to the maximum enable us to be the best versions of ourselves or do they nurture the lazy, hedonistic side until there’s no turning back?

Bionic Power-up

An exoskeleton transforms an individual into a human power tool and can make a paraplegic walk. Artificial heart will keep on pumping long after the organ has failed and an implanted microchip acts as a key, wallet and tracking device. Bionic humans can do unbelievable feats, but will the underlying potential be used for greater good or malicious intent?

Nanomality

You can’t see it but darn, it’s effective! Nanotechnologies are extremely potential in e.g. the fields of energy and health. So potential that a global regulation is demanded in the fear of a doomsday scenario. Where might the manipulation of tiny particles take mankind in the future?

Rewriting Genetics

Genetics are the basis for why we are on this planet. Evolution and natural selection have driven life since its beginning with a slow and steady pace. To turn up the heat, humankind has developed its ways to manipulate this process. As a novel phenomenon with highly unknown results, how might playing the genetics game change the world we live in?
